Kenya has officially launched a national roll-out of Lenacapavir, a new long-acting injectable HIV prevention drug, amid rising infection rates among young people.

• Lenacapavir, a long-acting PrEP, expands Kenya's HIV prevention options and is a milestone in national response, especially for at-risk populations.
• The drug is initially being rolled out in 15 counties.
• Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale affirmed the drug's safety and efficacy, and Principal Secretary Dr. Ouma Oluga stated the rollout signals hope towards ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.
• The local cost of Lenacapavir is approximately 60 US dollars, significantly cheaper than the global cost of 28,000 US dollars, thanks to support from the Global Fund.
