The Kenya Forest Service has approved the installation of a water transmission pipeline within Karura Forest, a project by the Athi Water Works Development Agency to boost water supply to eastern Nairobi.

• The pipeline is expected to deliver an additional 211 million litres of water per day.
• Key organizations involved are the Kenya Forest Service and the Athi Water Works Development Agency.
• A 3-kilometre section of the pipeline will be installed underground within an existing cycle track corridor, with completion targeted within four months.
