Ethiopian running legend Haile Gebrselassie and Tanzanian marathon champion Alphonce Simbu will be chief guests at the 22nd Sports Personality of the Year (SOYA) Awards on April 10 at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.

• The awards, hosted by SOYA founder Paul Tergat, aim to expand participation beyond Kenya into the East African region and beyond.
• A new SOYA Academy initiative was launched in partnership with Homeboyz Entertainment to foster sports development.
• Sidian Bank boosted the event with a Sh2 million contribution to support athletes' financial literacy.
