The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has issued a warning of moderate flood risks across several counties, including Nairobi and Murang’a, due to heavy rains expected from April 7 to 13, 2026.

• Counties such as Nairobi, Murang’a, Nyeri, Embu, Kirinyaga, Meru, and Tharaka Nithi are predicted to receive cumulative rainfall exceeding 50mm.
• The Kenya Meteorological Department highlighted the increased risk of mosquito-borne and waterborne diseases like malaria, dengue fever, cholera, and typhoid.
• Additionally, parts of Nyandarua, Nyeri, and Meru counties are forecast to experience minimum temperatures of 10°C or below, posing risks of cold-related illnesses.
