Kenya's National Assembly Departmental Committee on Health has recommended that Mediheal Group of Hospitals be allowed to resume general operations, but with its organ transplant services still suspended pending further investigation.

• The committee recommended lifting sanctions on Mediheal, excluding licenses related to organ transplants, due to a lack of evidence linking foreign nationals involved in transplants to illegal activities.
• Mediheal, which employed 2300 Kenyans, conducted 476 kidney transplants between 2018 and March 2025 before the program's suspension.
• The investigation highlighted systemic weaknesses in Kenya's transplant ecosystem, including a shortage of specialized personnel and proposed the enactment of a comprehensive Blood, Cell, and Organ Transplant Law.
