Activist Mwabili Mwagodi was briefly detained at the Deputy County Commissioner’s office in Githunguri, Kiambu County, on Friday, April 17, while documenting a historical site slated for an affordable housing project.

• Mwabili Mwagodi was prevented from recording his report and had his equipment confiscated by unidentified individuals.
• The detainment involved unidentified individuals who escorted him to the DCC office and contacted Githunguri Assistant Police Commandant Chief Inspector Jonathan Koech.
• The incident occurred at the Githunguri Kia Wairera site, which has historical and cultural significance and is subject to a recent court order for the government to vacate.
