The National Assembly's Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning will commence public hearings on two significant financial reform Bills: the Sovereign Wealth Fund Bill, 2026, and the Public Finance Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

• The Sovereign Wealth Fund Bill, 2026, sponsored by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, aims to establish a framework for managing national wealth for long-term investment through a three-tier structure: Stabilization, Infrastructure, and Future Generations Funds.
• The Public Finance Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025, also sponsored by Kimani Ichung’wah, seeks to streamline the allocation of additional funds to county governments and improve intergovernmental financial management.
• Public participation is a constitutional requirement to gather views from stakeholders and the public before the Bills are debated and passed, strengthening Kenya's fiscal discipline and economic planning.
