The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has intensified its efforts in Kitui County by launching an operation to curb illegal effluent discharge.

• NEMA inspectors are enforcing the Water Quality Regulations 2024 to protect water sources and the environment.
• The crackdown targets various establishments including hotels, hospitals, petrol stations, and residential apartments.
• Director Environmental Enforcement, Dr. Ayub Macharia, stated that non-compliant facilities will face closure and prosecution.
