Kenya has issued a travel advisory warning its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) due to a surge in Ebola cases.

• Uganda has confirmed nine Ebola infections, while the DRC reports between 900 and 1,077 suspected cases.
• The advisory was issued by Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni, emphasizing the real and growing risk of importation into Kenya.
• Enhanced surveillance, including designated screening at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and aircraft wastewater testing, is in place to combat potential spread through significant trade activities between the countries.
