Over 50 volunteer and contract nurses in Baringo County staged a demonstration protesting their prolonged contract status and the county's recent recruitment exercise, which they claim overlooked their years of service.

• Nurses, some working for up to eight years, have not been absorbed into permanent positions.
• The protesting health workers, including Ms Sheila Chelagat and Nurse Mercy Kimeli, highlighted that recent graduates were hired while they were overlooked.
• The nurses are also demanding payment of salaries delayed for over three months.
