The Ministry of Health is prioritizing strategic partnerships to expand access to specialized healthcare technologies and advance Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

• The JOOTRH Victoria Annex Hospital is now the first public hospital in Kenya to offer advanced therapeutic apheresis procedures for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) patients.
• Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, lauded a partnership between JOOTRH and Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies for supporting technology transfer and capacity building.
• This initiative, highlighted during a visit by 47 County Chief Officers of Health, aims to improve patient outcomes across Western Kenya and the Lake Region, ahead of World Sickle Cell Day 2026, to be commemorated in Busia County.
