A fugitive suspected of murdering his employer nearly a year prior was apprehended after being unexpectedly spotted at a hospital hundreds of kilometers away, leading to his conviction.

• David Mutuku Ndemwa was convicted of murdering his employer, Martha Mbeke Thambu, on the night of August 6, 2020.
• Ndemwa was identified by relatives of the deceased while he was at Kitui Level 5 Hospital in February 2021.
• The court found circumstantial evidence, including Ndemwa's disappearance and his implausible defense, proved his guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
