An audit of Homa Bay County's finances has revealed significant discrepancies, including pending bills of over Sh1 billion and questionable use of hospital revenue, prompting responses from Governor Gladys Wanga before the Senate's County Public Accounts Committee.

• Sh1.09 billion in pending bills were over a year old, with Sh700 million outstanding for more than three years, contravening financial regulations.
• Governor Wanga stated that Sh713 million of the pending bills have been paid and a structured payment plan is in place to clear the remainder by June 30, 2026.
• Approximately Sh700 million collected by hospitals was reportedly spent at source without proper deposit into a special purpose account, a discrepancy questioned by committee members.
