The National Land Commission (NLC) has granted the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) approval to begin early construction works on the new Nithi Bridge alignment, even before full land compensation is completed.

• The NLC invoked Section 120 (2) of the Land Act, allowing possession of private land before payment if a project is deemed urgent in the public interest.
• Key organizations involved are the National Land Commission (NLC) and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
• This approval on July 1 allows KeNHA to access required parcels and proceed with the multibillion-shilling project without waiting for all land acquisition and compensation payments to be finalised.
