Kenya has announced significant changes to import duties on several key products, including mobile phones, rice, and baby diapers, following approvals from the East African Community (EAC).

• A new 25% import duty will be applied to mobile phones for one year, up from 0%.
• The EAC Council of Ministers approved these country-specific duty measures.
• Import duties on baby diapers increased to 35%, while rice import duties were reduced to 35% or USD200 per metric tonne.
