Meshack Kiptoo Koech, a 12-year-old Grade Six pupil, emerged victorious in his category at the 2026 Kaptagat Cycling Challenge on Saturday, completing the 80-kilometre course.

• He is one of the youngest riders to win at the event, which celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme.
• The race saw 130 cyclists participate, a 30 per cent increase from previous years.
• The Treasury Principal Secretary, Chris Kiptoo, is the patron of the programme and aims to develop Kaptagat into a premier destination for athletes and outdoor recreation.
