SHA has released Sh4 billion to settle NHIF claims, but hospitals claim shortfalls of up to 60 percent.
The exercise involves healthcare facilities, particularly those with claims of Sh10 million and below, with reports of the threshold being raised to Sh15 million without increased funding.
Hospital owners describe the process as a "take-it-or-leave-it" situation, with some considering legal action to recover the full amounts owed.
