The Kenyan government, in partnership with the World Bank, is injecting an additional Ksh3.06 billion into youth businesses through the second phase of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme.

• The funding will support 122,203 young entrepreneurs, with 33,269 new beneficiaries and 88,934 continuing entrepreneurs.
• The initiative, led by the Government of Kenya and the World Bank, shifts focus from business startup to enterprise expansion.
• Beyond financial aid, the programme aims to reduce barriers like permit requirements and establish unique identities for NYOTA entrepreneurs to enhance access to further support and financing. The expanded initiative is estimated to create between 150,000 and 250,000 additional jobs.
