The Environment and Land Court has halted the construction of a proposed 12-storey apartment block near the Department of Defence (DoD) headquarters in Nairobi, ruling that approvals were unlawfully obtained.

• The court quashed all planning approvals for the 42-unit apartment development situated on L.R. No. 209/1458/2.
• The case was initiated by Tom Brown Limited and former MP Harun Mwau, with the Ministry of Defence joining as an interested party.
• Key issues included the DoD not being consulted despite the project's proximity to a safeguarded national security area and breaches of the Physical and Land Use Planning Act.
