Kenyan's hopes for affordable cooking gas have been significantly delayed, with the completion of a key Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage facility now pushed back to 2028.

• The Sh4.6 billion LPG storage facility by Asharami Synergy Limited is now expected to be completed at the end of 2028.
• This delay impacts the promise made by President William Ruto in March 2023 to subsidize 6kg cylinder refills to Sh300-500.
• The facility aims to reduce LPG costs through bulk importing, with the government intending to increase uptake from 15 percent to 70 percent within four years.
