The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) and the Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) are launching a new initiative to recognize and honor veteran journalists in print and broadcast media.

• The recognition program will commence in September, coinciding with celebrated journalist Fred Obachi Machoka's 50 years in the newsroom.
• Key figures involved include MCK CEO David Omwoyo and KEG President Zubeeda Kananu, alongside veteran journalists like Lee Njiru and Pamela Mburia.
• The initiative aims not only to celebrate these seasoned professionals but also to establish a framework for their welfare, protection, and mentorship of upcoming journalists, leveraging their "brain gain."
