Scientists are issuing a dire warning that Mount Kenya's iconic ice caps are now projected to completely melt within the next three to five years, a significantly accelerated timeline from previous predictions.

• Mount Kenya's ice areas have shrunk by 96 per cent, from 1.64 km² to 0.07 km² between 1906 and 2021/2022.
