A Chuka University student, Hesbon Mauti Thomas, has been charged with using offensive language against President William Ruto and his children. The alleged remarks were made in a video posted on his TikTok account on June 25, 2026.

• The student pleaded not guilty to the charges at the Milimani Law Courts.

• Hesbon Mauti Thomas was released on a Sh5,000 cash bail, paid by his lawyer, Danstan Omari, who is representing him pro bono.
