• The National Assembly's Transport and Infrastructure Committee, chaired by Naivasha MP George Kariuki, made these proposals while reviewing the Traffic (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
• The Bill also seeks to introduce clear timelines for vehicle detention, limiting it to a maximum of 48 hours if a photograph suffices as evidence or 14 days for investigations.
