A new Interpol report has identified Kenya as Africa’s second-most vulnerable country to cyberattacks, with a significant percentage of exploitable digital vulnerabilities detected in 2025.

• Kenya accounted for 11.9 percent of exploitable digital vulnerabilities in Africa, ranking behind South Africa (43.6 percent) and ahead of Nigeria (9.1 percent).
• Interpol attributes this high vulnerability to poor cyber practices, inadequate cybersecurity investment, and delayed software patching across both public and private sectors.
• Cybercriminals are exploiting these weaknesses for identity theft, financial fraud, and ransomware attacks, with a notable 327 percent increase in SIM swap fraud in Kenya during 2025.
