A seven-member vetting committee has been formed within the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) to address the contentious admission of defectors from President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

• The committee, chaired by secretary-general designate John Methu, was established after multiple deadlocked meetings since June 16, 2026.
• DCP has reportedly received 816 defection requests from government loyalists, including high-ranking officials.
• A key condition for vetting is a public declaration by defectors that they will not vie on parties associated with President Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
