Former Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya and Justin Muturi, along with Mbus Party leader Lenny Kivuti, have publicly criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for allegedly disrespecting their political parties. They have stated that Mt Kenya has never had a king, rejecting Gachagua's calls to dissolve their parties and join his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP). Political tensions are escalating in the Mt Kenya region as Gachagua faces accusations of attempting to dominate the region's politics through tyranny. A rift has emerged within the United Opposition following these accusations, with party leaders claiming Gachagua's remarks undermine efforts to forge a united front for the 2027 General Election.
