The Kenyan government has proposed consolidating 32 public Teacher Training Colleges into a single institution, the Kenya Teachers Training College, as part of the Pre-Service Education and In-Service Training Bill, 2026.

• The bill designates the 32 colleges as campuses of the new, unified institution.
• The proposed Kenya Teachers Training College will be a corporate body responsible for coordinating pre-service teacher education and advising the Education Cabinet Secretary.
• The consolidation is a key component of a broader overhaul of teacher training, sponsored by Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah.
