Police Arrest 14 Suspects During Linda Mwananchi Homa Bay Tour - August 2026

Police in Homa Bay County have arrested 14 suspects following separate incidents where youths allegedly attempted to disrupt the Linda Mwananchi movement's tour on Sunday. The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has strongly condemned the acts of political violence and intolerance witnessed during the rally and is set to summon political actors. Siaya Governor James Orengo has strongly condemned a series of 'cowardly and targeted' attacks against journalists covering the political tour in Homa Bay, involving violence, theft of equipment, and intimidation. Edwin Sifuna, ODM Secretary-General, successfully de-escalated the chaos during the Linda Mwananchi meeting. The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) has also strongly condemned the political violence and issued a stern warning to politicians against destabilizing the nation.
