Only 7,048 New Voters Registered in First Week of IEBC Drive - October 2025

Low voter registration turnout has been reported across Kenya in the first week of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise. A total of only 7,048 Kenyans were registered as new voters, a stark contrast to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) target of 6.3 million voters. Due to the low turnout in many areas, efforts to encourage Kenyans, particularly youth, to register are intensifying at the grassroots level. In line with this, members of a Pentecostal church are urging Kenyans to register to vote, stating that it is crucial for bringing about change in the country.
