TSC Suspends Teacher Strikes as 44,000 Tutors Set for Permanent Employment - May 2026

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the suspension of teacher strikes as 44,000 tutors are set to be confirmed for permanent employment. Kenyan schools are being urged to adopt alternative methods for correcting student behavior, moving away from traditional punitive measures. Separately, Governor Nyaribo of Nyamira County launched a Sh25.8 million feeding programme for 30,000 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners.
