Two Burundian nationals have been charged in a Mombasa court for the possession and attempted sale of 27 pieces of elephant tusks, estimated to be worth over Kshs12 million. They were apprehended by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) in Miritini, Mombasa County, following a sting operation.

• 62.85 kilograms of ivory, valued at approximately Kshs12,570,000, was confiscated from the suspects.
• The accused appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo and were charged under Section (4) of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, 2013 (as amended).
• Each suspect was granted a bond of Kshs4 million with one Kenyan surety, and ordered to surrender their passports.

Former Baringo Central Member of Parliament Silas Mwaita was arrested on Sunday, August 3, by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kilimani on suspicion of land fraud and other illegalities. He is believed to be involved in a land fraud case concerning two prime plots along Mai Mahiu Road in Nairobi West, valued at millions of shillings.

Former Baringo Central MP Sammy Mwaita has been charged with land fraud regarding a Ksh150 million scheme along Mai Mahiu Road in Nairobi West. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) confirmed the charges after his appearance at the Milimani Law Courts.

• Mwaita is accused of fabricating two title deeds 24 years ago to defraud individuals of two prime land parcels.
