JSC Appoints Acting Chief Kadhi; Parliament Cancels Warden Recruitment; KUPPET Demands Teacher Promotions - August 2025
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Sukyan Omar Hassan as the Acting Chief Kadhi for a period of three months, following the death of Sheikh Athman Abdul-Halim. In a different commission action, the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) unexpectedly cancelled the recruitment of 38 Security Wardens for Parliament weeks after inviting applications. Meanwhile, the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has criticized the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for its failure to promote teachers. KUPPET is demanding automatic promotions for teachers who have remained in a single job group for over a decade.
