Road Accidents Claim at Least 60 Lives Across Kenya - August 2025

The number of fatalities from road accidents across Kenya has surged, with the total death toll reaching 60 after new deaths were reported. A surge in fatalities included eight people dying in Makueni and another two along the Mai Mahiu road. In a separate incident, a tragic road accident on the Kibwezi-Kitui road in Makueni County claimed the lives of four family members. Ten additional deaths were reported across Makueni, Nakuru, and Tana River counties. One devastating incident involved a family returning from a dowry ceremony.
