Government Announces Industrial Expo, Coffee Licensing, and Zero-Based Budgeting Shift - August 2025
The Kenyan government and its authorities have announced several new initiatives. Kenya is set to host the 8th Kenya International Industrial Expo (KIIE) from September 4–6, 2025, in Nairobi to accelerate industrial growth by attracting global manufacturers. In the agriculture sector, the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) has licensed 152 coffee dealers for the 2025/26 financial year, confirming no company will receive exclusive export rights. Additionally, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has warned ministries they risk losing funding as Kenya shifts to zero-based budgeting for the 2026/27 financial year.
