University Lecturers' Strike Over KSh 7.9 Billion Demand Enters Third Week - October 2025

The strike by university lecturers and staff in Kenya has entered its third week, impacting academic activities and causing difficulties for students. The Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) is insisting that the strike will not be called off until they are paid 7.9 billion shillings. The unions are demanding the full implementation of a collective bargaining agreement from 2017-2021. They have vowed not to return to work until this long-standing pay dispute is resolved.
