The suspension was enacted through interim conservatory orders issued just hours before the recruitment was scheduled to begin across the country. Following the court's decision, the National Police Service confirmed it had halted the recruitment of police cadets. The suspension of the registration exercise was also announced by the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Professor Kithure Kindiki. The recruitment was planned by the National Police Service Commission.
