University Lecturers' Strike Continues Over Salary Payment Dispute - October 2025
A lecturers' strike continues in Kenya due to a dispute with the Ministry of Education over salary payments. Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba has urged the university lecturers to end their strike and return to work, stating the government will implement their agreement in phases. The Cabinet Secretary also called on the striking lecturers to negotiate with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) to finalize the actual amount of their owed payments. The ministry cannot proceed with disbursing funds until this amount is agreed upon.
