President Ruto and Opposition Leaders Clash Amid Speculation on 2027 Alliances - November 2025
President William Ruto, speaking in Machakos, cautioned opposition leaders against undermining his government and promised the Ukambani region significant government appointments by 2027. For the third consecutive day, President Ruto criticized the opposition, accusing them of being driven by tribalism and lacking a clear agenda. In response, Siaya Governor James Orengo issued a stern warning to ODM members collaborating with President Ruto and asserted that ODM does not need the president. Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya indicated that the opposition will unite behind a single candidate to challenge President Ruto in the 2027 election. Adding to political discourse, Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda, a Ruto ally, suggested the President might seek re-election on an ODM ticket.
