The High Court has ordered the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) to pay over Sh18 million in debt to two foreign sports management firms, rejecting KBC's plea to delay payment due to budgetary constraints. The State Department for Sports is simultaneously requesting a significant budget increase to Sh32.24 billion for the 2026/27 financial year, primarily for preparations related to AFCON 2027 and major sports infrastructure projects. Meanwhile, the Employment and Labour Relations Court has set May 21, 2026, for further directions in a petition challenging the appointment of Adan Abdulla Mohamed as the new Commissioner-General of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), with Adan Mohamed having been sworn in on May 20 following his appointment on May 18.
