Approximately 60 suspected Al Shabaab militants raided Basuba village and a General Service Unit (GSU) camp within Lamu County's Boni Forest on Friday, July 25, at around 9 pm. The heavily armed group opened fire indiscriminately on residents and then engaged GSU officers in a fierce, hour-long exchange of fire before being repelled.

• The militants reportedly fired four rocket-propelled grenades towards the camp and village.
