Ladnan Hospital has clarified its ownership following online rumors that the facility, allegedly owned by Social Health Authority (SHA) chairperson Abdi Mohammed, received Ksh66 million in payments from SHA. The hospital stated that Mohammed sold his shares in 2023, before SHA was implemented.

• The hospital is now fully owned by Metro Group PLC, operating as a subsidiary of Metropolitan Hospital Holdings Limited.
• The controversy arose after SHA's list of paid claims showed Ksh52 million to Ladnan Hospital, a larger payment than those to Level 6 hospitals like Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH).
• Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale acknowledged that the Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) estimates 30 per cent of medical payouts are linked to fraudulent claims.
