Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Ouma Oluga, has exposed widespread overcharging by private hospitals in Kenya, revealing that medical facilities are defrauding patients through inflated prices for services and medicines.

• Panadol, costing Ksh30 to procure, is sold to patients for Ksh1,500. Similarly, CT scans priced at Ksh16,000 are charged at Ksh35,000.
• Principal Secretary Ouma Oluga, of the Ministry of Health, stated this during a radio interview on Tuesday, August 26.
• The Ministry of Health has closed down 728 facilities and downgraded 301 facilities due to these fraudulent practices, primarily targeting private hospitals.
