President William Ruto announced a Ksh10 million reward for world-record-breaking athlete Faith Kipyegon in recognition of her recent victories. The announcement was made during a luncheon at State House.

  • Faith Kipyegon broke her own 1500m world record, clocking 3:48.68, becoming the first woman to run under 3:49. She also competed in the 3000m, achieving 8:07.04.
  • President Ruto referenced the Ministry of Sports' July announcement, confirming a 400 per cent increase in prize money and a special Ksh55 million fund awarded to athletes.
