A probe into illegal organ harvesting is underway involving Mediheal Group of Hospitals and two other facilities, following the discovery of foreign patients receiving transplants paid for by the now-defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

• Five patients from Somalia received kidney transplants at Mediheal Hospital.
• The National Assembly's Health Committee in Eldoret conducted hearings on August 28, 2025.
• One facility performed 34 kidney transplants, with some cases resulting in complications and even patient fatalities.
• Hospital officials claim all transplants adhered to Kenyan laws, including the Health Act 2017 and Data Protection Act.
