A Ganze Sub-County Children’s Officer recounted the rescue of three children who were withdrawn from school and subjected to forced fasting due to Paul Nthenge Mackenzie’s radical doctrines. Children were believed to be denied education as school was deemed “evil”.

• Two parents involved in the withdrawal and forced fasting of the minors were arrested and are among the accused persons.
• The children were rescued on May 23, 2023, and taken to Malindi Police Station before being placed at Blessed Generation Children’s Rescue Centre.
• The children received counselling, medical attention, first aid, and food, and were later re-admitted to school, with one girl now in Form Three at a Nairobi high school.
• The 59th prosecution witness, Chief Inspector Klein Kulicha, a crime scene investigator, testified that photographic evidence was collected from Mackenzie’s Furunzi-based church on May 1, 2023.
