Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has stressed that the expansion of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) must be strategically planned, emphasizing that infrastructure alone is insufficient without adequate staffing and financial responsibility. He highlighted the importance of proper staff-to-student ratios and efficient resource utilization.

• Duale announced that underprivileged KMTC students would begin receiving funding from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) within the current financial year, following a directive from President William Ruto.
• The National Treasury previously allocated Ksh500 million to support financially disadvantaged KMTC students, though only 34,000 applicants secured funding.
• KMTC, founded in 1927, is Kenya's largest institution for training healthcare professionals, with over 71 campuses nationwide, and an estimated 85 per cent of Kenya's medical workforce having trained there.
