The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has extended the closure of a section of the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway between Makupa Bridge and Changamwe Interchange for an additional 11 days, from Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to Saturday, October 4, 2025.

• The closure is to allow for road construction and drainage works to enhance connectivity.
• Director General Luka Kimeli made the announcement on Tuesday, September 23.
• Motorists are advised to follow directives from traffic marshals and will share a section of the Nairobi-bound road.
• The initial closure was from Saturday, August 23, to Sunday, September 7, 2025.
• The Makupa-Changamwe section is a critical corridor, serving traffic to and from the Port of Mombasa.
