The Nyanza Region BingwaFest extravaganza is set to begin today at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya, featuring reigning 1500m national champion Purity Chepkirui defending her title. This multi-discipline sports event, which launched its second season last month in Nakuru, will see over 500 athletes competing for a share of a more than Sh6 million prize pool in track disciplines alone.
- Preliminary football matches commenced on Monday across various venues, with rugby 10s and 3x3 basketball starting tomorrow, culminating on Sunday at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium.
- Winners in football and rugby (men and women) will each receive Sh1 million, while winning 3x3 basketball teams will take home Sh500,000.
- Gold medallists in the 10,000m race will earn Sh300,000, and 5,000m winners will receive Sh250,000.
