Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja announced an impending debt swap deal with President William Ruto's national government to clear Ksh2.7 billion owed in land rates and compensation for acquired lands.

• Nairobi County will exchange Ksh2.7 billion in debt for redirected funding towards development projects.
• Governor Sakaja also countered a report by Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang'o, stating Nairobi collected a record Ksh13.8 billion in revenue and channeled Ksh4.09 billion into infrastructure.
• Additionally, City Hall has paid over Ksh1 billion owed to workers' pension schemes, following recent salary delays that led to protests by the Kenya County Government Workers Union (KCGWU).
